Final countdown to CCR’s first international home bout

It’s one week until the Central City Rollergirls host their first international bout on Sunday 13th November.

Fresh from playing their first overseas bout in Stuttgart, CCR’s ‘Belles of Cenntrinians’ will take on Sioux Falls Roller Dollz, travelling all the way from South Dakota USA, to bout at Cocks Moor Woods Leisure Centre in Kings Heath. Having been accepted into the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association’s apprentice league programme in July 2011, this will be the league’s first WFTDA sanctioned game.

Centrinnian’s Blocker Verry Cherry said, “CCR have gone from strength to strength, and along with other leagues in the UK have been very proactive in pushing UK roller derby to the next level.

“We have travelled all over the country to play different teams, but to host and play against a team from the USA really is a big privilege for us and a challenge we can’t wait to sink our teeth into!”

With an impressive series of wins throughout 2011, and the bout coinciding with CCR’s 4th birthday, the league definitely has a lot to celebrate.

You can still buy reduced early bird tickets here and join both leagues at the after party to watch WFTDA Championship Tournament!

CCR head to Sheffield

Sunday 9th October  sees CCR’s ‘Belles of Centrinnians’ head up the M1 for their first visit to the Sheffield Steel Roller Girls. This is the second time the teams have met, with the first bout in Birmingham back in September 2010, saw CCR run out winners by 161 – 40.

While SSRG have been in action already this season, racking up a 148 – 96 victory against Newcastle back in early September, this is the Centrinnians’ first bout of the new season, following an extended Summer break, so its sure to be an interesting match up.

This is also the start of an exciting period of 3 bouts in 5 weeks for the Centrinnians with the trip to South Yorkshire being followed by an International double with the girls heading to Germany to take on Stuttgart at the end of October, then taking on the USA’s Sioux Falls back in Birmingham in mid November.

First up though, its those Sheffield Steelers! For tickets details, times and venue address click on the link below
